Capturing life's moments with passion and precision.

This website is a journey through the first twenty years of my freelance photography career in Philadelphia, spanning the vibrant 1980s and 1990s. It's a collection of stories captured through the lens of my 35mm manual camera, fueled by the artistic magic of Tri-X film. Looking back, I realize how fortunate I was to witness and document the extraordinary diversity of life unfolding around me. From pulsating media scenes and thrilling sporting events to the captivating world of arts and entertainment, my journey unveiled a tapestry of human experiences.

My passion for capturing the essence of my subjects extended beyond the public eye. My favorite subjects, without a doubt, have always been my family. Growing up, my father instilled in me an appreciation for the power of imagery. He meticulously documented our family's life through both 16 and 8mm film, as well as still photographs. Every Saturday night was a ritual - we'd gather in our living room, eagerly awaiting his latest reel. We'd watch, captivated, as his films brought those precious moments back to life, evoking a flood of excitement, joy, and nostalgia. These early experiences ignited within me a deep understanding of how photography can preserve family memories and create lasting legacies.

Photojournalism - A Chronicle of Times

My dedication to photojournalism led me to chronicle significant events and personalities, shaping the cultural landscape of Philadelphia in those decades. I had the privilege of lensing iconic figures like CBS Nightly News anchor Dan Rather and Pulitzer Prize-winning sportscaster Jim Gardner. I captured the power and grace of basketball legend Dr. J, the grit and determination of legendary boxer Joe Frazier, and even the exuberant energy of rock and roll icon Mick Jagger.

My work appeared in a wide range of publications including The Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Magazine, TV Guide, Psychology Today, Super Lawyers, PC World, Money Magazine, Art News, Philadelphia Style, and Martha Stewart Living. It was a fulfilling experience to contribute my visual storytelling to diverse platforms, reaching audiences with compelling narratives from across the city and beyond.

A Legacy of Lasting Images

My photographic journey has extended beyond fleeting moments. Some of my commercial work now permanently resides in prominent Philadelphia locations, including the Visitor Center and the ABC WPVI Channel 6 building. This enduring presence is a testament to the power of imagery to transcend time and connect with audiences on a deeper level.

Celebrating Individuality

Throughout my career, I've sought to capture the unique beauty and essence of each individual I've encountered. From the profound serenity of a cloistered nun to the resilience of a homeless woman finding solace at the luxurious Four Seasons Hotel, each image tells a story of human connection and the complexities of life.

My time photographing at Philadelphia's annual Mummers Parade provided unforgettable encounters with vibrant performers dressed in elaborate costumes. The exuberance and sheer joy radiating from these groups, whether donning the regal attire of kings or warriors, is forever etched in my memory.

Traveling to the Hopi Reservation in Flagstaff, Arizona, opened my eyes to a different world, where tradition and spirituality intertwined. I was inspired by the resilience and artistry of the Hopi people, captured through both individual portraits and the collective life of their community.

The challenges and joys of everyday life are a constant source of inspiration. A moment shared between a mother and child amidst the bustling labor of the Brickyards in Mexico, or the contemplative gaze of a young boy perched in a tree, served as poignant reminders of the beauty and fragility of our human experience.
